Undergraduate and Graduate Internship

Internship Dates: November 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
Application Deadline: October 24, 2025.
Core Hours of Operations: Between 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Internship work hours are limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week.
Hourly rate $25.00

The Amistad Commission is specifically, seeking students currently enrolled in undergraduate, graduate African American History/ or American History or World History, the commission will consider other education majors.

Students will gain valuable work experience within state government. Internships are highly competitive and value innovative and creative thinking within a diverse and confidential work environment.

The ideal candidate will exhibit the ability to anticipate office needs, be a team player, possess strong
communication and writing skills, hold a developed sense of office etiquette, and be a tenacious organizer.

The candidate must be competent in the use of various technological platforms such as social media, scheduling virtual “TEAMS” meetings, and the office calendar. The selected candidate will assist in the planning and assist in the day-to-day operations Amistad Commission’s Summer Institute held four days from August 3rd to August 6, 2026, in Kean University Union New Jersey.

The Amistad Commission is in the New Jersey Department of Education in Trenton, New Jersey.

In accordance with the New Jersey First Act P.L. 2011 c. 70, effective September l, 2011, new public employees are required to obtain New Jersey residency within (l) year of employment.
