Amistad Summer Institute
Amistad Commission Summer Institute
Each year, the Amistad Commission hosts a Summer Institute for New Jersey educators and administrators. This in-person event offers an opportunity to learn from experts and explore practical strategies for implementing the NJ Amistad Law across all K–12 subjects.
The Institute features plenary sessions, breakout workshops tailored to elementary, middle, and high school educators, and engaging cultural programming.
Highlights from last summer included:
- National History Day partnerships
- Historical Re-enactors and collaborations with historical societies across New Jersey
- Student contributions from Amistad Special Project Award winners and emerging filmmakers from Camden County Institute of Technology and Watchung Hills Regional High School.
We invite all teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists, department chairs, and education leaders to join us next year for a rewarding and enriching and informative experience.
