Amistad Commission Summer Institute
Each year, the Amistad Commission hosts a Summer Institute for New Jersey educators and administrators. This in-person event offers an opportunity to learn from experts and explore practical strategies for implementing the NJ Amistad Law across all K–12 subjects.
The Institute features plenary sessions, breakout workshops tailored to elementary, middle, and high school educators, and engaging cultural programming.
Highlights from last summer included
- Ethical use of AI in education
- Virtual tour of historical sites in Ghana
- National History Day partnerships
- Collaborations with historical societies across New Jersey
- Student contributions from NAACP Youth Council members, Amistad Special Project Award winners, and emerging filmmakers from Atlantic County Institute of Technology
We invite all teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists, department chairs, and education leaders to join us this summer for an enriching and informative experience.
